President’s Message
Dear Friends:
As this is my last message as chapter president, I would like to highlight three areas that have come to mind: (1) History—With the end of my term coming up as President of this great association, we are embarking on new territory as Cindy Isenhour takes over the reins of President. She will become the first female President of the NC FBINAA. I have no doubt whatsoever of her talents and abilities to lead this association and be a wonderful leader. She has shown over the past four years as Sec/Treasurer what she is capable of doing for us. Thank you, Cindy, for all your hard work on our behalf! (2) Sacrifice—Those of you who that attended the National FBINAA conference in Phoenix, Az and attended the family night event at the Phoenix Cardinals football stadium, you may have noticed the name of Pat Tillman highlighted, as others were, in the stadium. Seeing his name made me think of what he gave up to serve his country and the ultimate sacrifice he made. We know on a day-to-day basis what those sacrifices are. As a Vietnam veteran, I also know what it means to serve your country and see friends die for ``the cause``. Like many of you, I have had friends die in the line of duty, so sacrifice does mean a lot. Because of that I thank each of you for what you do everyday and what you give up for your fellow man. Speaking of sacrifice, we know that Jerry is in Iraq and we recognize what sacrifice that means for him and his family. Keep him in your prayers as he performs his duty. (3) Courage—this goes pretty much in line with sacrifice, but I believe it takes courage to become a Police Officer and do the things we do everyday. Not everyone has what it takes to become an officer. There is(was) a sign in the BLET classroom at Wake Tech Comm College that read: Some are meant to call the Police—Some are meant to be the Police !! I am truly grateful to each of you for the courage it takes to do what you do everyday. Thank you…
Remember the upcoming fall meeting in Morganton on Nov 2, 2007. Steve has a great program set up for us that I’m sure we will enjoy. Once again, I would like to thank Lt Scott Parker and the Nash Co. Sheriffs Dept for putting on a very good program for us a few months ago. The talent this association has is incredible and I guess that’s what makes us unique. Speaking of training, I have to tell you, if you missed going to Phoenix for the National Conf, you missed a good one. I’m sure everyone enjoyed themselves—I know I did—but even more so, my wife and I enjoyed the drive out and back. This is a great country!! I certainly don’t want to forget the job Marshall Williamson did on the summer conference. I thank each of you and appreciate the work you have done…
As I wrap this up, I want to thank the Presidents who served this association before me, as I know the hard work that was put in by them. They deserve to be recognized and I definitely pat them on the back for their sacrifice and willingness to make this the best FBINAA in the USA. One last thank you – Thank you, SAC Nate Gray, for all your support of this association and what you have done to help us maintain the ``Knowledge, Courage, Integrity`` of the FBINAA.
Cindy, I look forward to your leadership and I hope I can still serve this association in some way after my term expires. I thank all of you for a wonderful year and God bless.
M. Greg Harrington President, NC FBINAA
