Youth Leadership Program
The program is made possible through the cooperation of the FBI, and both tuition and lodging are free. Each chapter pays for their candidate’s travel expenses, and most chapters send some spending money with the student. While the program is not offered exclusively for those choosing a career in law enforcement, interested candidates should possess a desire to gain knowledge in the American system of criminal justice, including police organization, leadership and the structure and operation of criminal courts. Participants will also be expected to share the knowledge gained with their peers following completion of the program. Individuals interested in attending the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) are requested to contact their local chapter officers for further information. Applications are usually submitted to the chapters in March of each year and their selections are completed by April 15th. Candidates must be a North Carolina Resident and must be sponsored by a member in good standing of the North Carolina Chapter. The application period for the 2011 Session have been completed.
