FBI National Academy Associates North Carolina Chapter March 27, 2009 Chapter Business Meeting Minutes, Rocky Mount, NC Prepared by: Myron Guthrie, Chapter Historian The General Meeting of the North Carolina National Academy Associates was called to order by Chapter President Mike Carver at 9:00 AM. Jeff Isenhour was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms by President Carver. The meeting began with a presentation of the Colors by members of the Rocky Mount Police Department and Nash County Sheriff’s Office followed by an invocation given by Past President Greg Harrington. The invocation was followed by the membership reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary/Treasurer Mike Adams conducted a roll-call of the executive board and all board members were present. President Carver recognized Mr. Neal Forney, who was in attendance. Mr. Forney attended the 54th Session of the National Academy. President Carver recognized Special Agent Jerry Senatore for his service to the North Carolina Chapter as Training Coordinator and presented him with a plaque and pen set as a token of the chapter’s appreciation for all his assistance, guidance, and friendship. Special Agent Senatore addressed the members and thanked them for allowing him to be a part of the organization. Special Agent Senatore introduced his replacement, John Letterhos and reported the chapter is in very capable hands. President Carver presented Immediate Past President Cindy Isenhour with a National Academy Commemorative Pistol for her service to the chapter as Chapter President. President Carver also acknowledged Past President Isenhour’s service as Chapter Secretary/Treasurer for four years prior to serving as president, and recognized the difficulty of that position. President Carver introduced Nash Community College President Bill Carver and presented him with a plaque in appreciation for his organization’s support of the chapter. President Carver addressed the members and welcomed them to Nash Community College. President Carver recognized honored guests to include Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins and his staff and thanked them for planning and hosting the conference. President Carver made special recognition of Past President Bill Williams who recently retired from the Nash County Sheriff’s Department. Past President Williams is also retired from the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division and has also served a Chapter Historian. President Carver also recognized Chief John Manley and Captain Wayne Sears of the Rocky Mount Police Department and thanked them for assisting with planning and hosting the conference. Both departments were presented plaques in appreciation of their support of the North Carolina Chapter. Captain Sears recognized Mr. Steve Wordsworth, CEO of MBM Food Services. Captain Sears advised the members that without the support of Mr. Wordsworth the conference would not have been possible. President Carver asked for reports from the board members. MOTION: President Carver asked for a motion to accept the chapter financial report. A motion to accept the report was made by Eric Copeland and received a second from Tom Moss. The members voted and the motion passed. Scholarship Committee Report: Second Vice President Ben Bailey
President Carver reviewed the scholarship process and reminded members that the more active they are in the chapter the more points they earn in the scholarship selection process. Historian Report of Deceased Members: Myron Guthrie
President Carver introduced FBI Assistant Director Brian Lamkin, who is the Assistant Director assigned to the FBI National Academy. AD Lamkin introduced his staff in attendance, Maggie Vattan and Tom McTroski. AD Lamkin then spoke to the members about the following:
President Carver thanked AD Lamkin and his staff for attending the conference and presented him with a pen set as a token of the chapter’s appreciation. President Carver introduced ASAC Ken Moore from the Charlotte Division who gave an update on the SAC replacement and relayed Nate Gray’s appreciation to the chapter. ASAC Moore advised the members the new SAC is Owen Harris. ASAC Moore also introduced his staff in attendance:
President Carver introduced New Training Coordinator John Letterhos, who gave the members an overview of his career with the FBI and expressed his desire to fill the BIG SHOES of Jerry Senatore. President Carver recognized the new graduates in attendance and welcomed them to the state chapter. President Carver announced to the members there would be no summer conference this year due to the national conference being held in Section III. He encouraged members to attend the national conference in Louisville, Kentucky in July to support Past President Joey Reynolds, who is running for Section III Representative. President Carver introduced Past President Reynolds, who gave an update of his campaign for the Section III Representative Position on the national board. President Carver announced the 2009 Fall Conference would be held in Flat Rock, NC in October. He reminded members chapter elections would be held then due to no summer conference being held. The positions needing to be filled are District Representatives for Districts 1,3,5,7,9 and Third Vice President. President Carver introduced Sheriff Rick Davis, who spoke about the fall conference and encouraged everyone to attend. President Carver advised members information about the conference would be posted on the chapter web page very soon. Old Business None New Business President Carver spoke about the following new business:
President Carver asked if any member had any business they wanted to discuss or bring to the attention to the chapter. In absence of any further business President Carver asked for a motion to close the general business meeting. MOTION Jeff Isenhour made a motion to close the business meeting and received a second from Joey Reynolds. The members voted and the motion passed. The business meeting closed at 10:59 am.
