Chapter Business Meeting Minutes, Rocky Mount, NC

The General Meeting of the North Carolina National Academy Associates was called to order by Chapter President Greg Harrington at 9:00 AM.

The meeting began with a presentation of the Colors by members of the Rocky Mount Police Department followed by an invocation given by President Harrington. The invocation was followed by the membership reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Harrington recognized honored guests to include Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins, Rocky Mount Chief of Police John Manley, Jr., and Nash Community College President Bill Carver.

President Harrington presented appreciation gifts to Wayne Sears, Scotty Parker, Sheriff Jenkins, and Chief Manley for their support of the Chapter and for hosting of the spring conference.

Secretary/Treasurer Isenhour conducted a roll-call of the executive board and all board members were present. The roll-call was followed by recognition of new academy graduates.

President Harrington asked for reports from the board members.

  • Secretary/Treasurer Isenhour presented a chapter financial report and made written copies available for inspection my members.
  • Second Vice President Marshall Williamson presented a summer conference update.
  • First Vice President Mike Carver presented information on the proposed chapter scholarship program and the 2008 Summer Conference.
  • Immediate Past President Steve Gillikin presented a conference committee report and reminded members of the elections being held at this summer’s conference in Wrightsville Beach.
  • Immediate Past President Gillikin presented information on the proposed “Neal Forney” award and sought permission from Mr. Forney for the chapter to use his name for this award.
  • Training Coordinator Jerry Senatore presented information on upcoming conference training and recognized members of the FBI who were present at the conference

President Harrington announced the Fall 2007 Conference will be held in Morganton on October 9, 2007.

Jim Jewel from the FBI passed out a crime survey to members to solicit information about crimes within their jurisdictions they would like to see more FBI assistance in combating.

Tom Monstraski gave members an overview of the National Academy’s security initiatives.

President Harrington Recognized Chief Francis Eddings, who retired from the East Carolina University Police Department and graduated from the 78th Session of the FBI National Academy.

President Harrington asked the members if anyone had any old or new business to discuss, and in the absence of any further business asked for a motion to close the chapter business meeting. Myron Guthrie made a motion to close the meeting that was seconded by Steve Gillikin. The members voted and the motion passed.

The meeting was closed at 10:00 AM.
