District 8 Representative Bill Godley is a Lieutenant with the Dare County Sheriff’s Department and is currently assigned as Supervisor over the Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Divisions. Prior to being employed by Dare County, Representative Godley was a Special Agent in Charge of the Northeastern District of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, a position he retired from.
Representative Godley graduated from Campbell University in 1971 and attended the 181st Session of the FBI National Academy.
Representative Godley is a former Captain and negotiator of the State Bureau of Investigation’s SWAT Team. He is a certified polygraph examiner and is a past president of the North Carolina Polygraph Association, and he is a certified law enforcement instructor.
