Executive Board Meeting Minutes, Charlotte, NC

President Carver called the meeting to order at 8:45 am and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

President Carver asked First Vice President Marshall Williamson to give the board an update on the 2010 Summer Conference arrangements.

First Vice President Williamson reported the 2010 Summer Conference is scheduled to run from June 13, 2010 – June 15, 2010 at the Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach, NC. First Vice President Williams reported room rates are $168.00 Sunday – Thursday and $199.00 Saturday and Sunday. All rooms are ocean front view.

First Vice President Williamson asked the board for authorization to execute the contact with Shell Island to secure the conference dates and President Carver asked for a motion to give First Vice President Williamson authorization to sign the contract.

MOTION

Second Vice President Ben Bailey made a motion to give First Vice President Williamson authorization to execute the contact with Shell Island Resort. The motion received a second from Immediate Past President Cindy Isenhour and passed by unanimous vote by the board.

Secretary/Treasurer Mike Adams gave the board an update of the Fall 2009 Conference in Flat Rock, NC. The conference hotel is the Mountain Lodge with a room rate of $109.00 plus tax. The conference will be held at the Blue Ridge Community College Conference Center, which will charge a fee of $450.00. The registration fee will be $25.00 and will include a light breakfast and lunch.

Secretary/Treasurer Adams reported conference training is still in the planning stages, but one name mentioned for training is George Piro.

President Carver asked Past President Joey Reynolds to give the board an update on his Section III Election endeavor. Past President Reynolds reported he recently attended a chapter meeting of the Maryland/Delaware Chapter and received a warm reception. Past President Reynolds requested some financial assistance with some printing costs, which have already been approved by the board. Past President Reynolds will submit invoices to Secretary/Treasurer Adams for reimbursement.

Secretary/Treasurer Adams gave the board an update of the Neal Forney Award. The 2009 recipient will be Retired Assistant Chief Jeff Isenhour from the Gaston County Police Department.

Secretary/Treasurer Adams advised the board that North Carolina will have two attendees for the 2009 Youth Leadership Program. The attendees are Sierra Wilson and Deirdre Curran.

Second Vice President Ben Bailey gave the board an update of the North Carolina Scholarship Selection Committee for the 2009 Scholarship. Second Vice President Bailey advised the board that Jacob Yaniero has been selected to receive the scholarship. Jacob is the son of Chief Mike Yaniero of the Jacksonville Police Department.

President Carver gave the board an update on discussions for changes for Executive Board Member duties. The board agreed to table this item until the Fall 2009 Board Meeting.

President Carver asked board members if anyone had any further business to discuss and in absence of any further business asked for a motion to close the board meeting.

MOTION

A motion to close the meeting was made by First Vice President Williamson. The motion received a second from Immediate Past President Cindy Isenhour and passed by unanimous vote by the board.

The meeting adjourned at 9:30 am.

At the conclusion of the business meeting the board participated in a meet and greet with newly appointed Charlotte Special Agent in Charge Owen Harris.
